Is the Fashion Industry Losing Its Edge? A Call for Authentic Expression

The fashion industry feels stagnant these days. It seems like the designers at major fashion houses either lack the freedom to express themselves fully or they’ve simply become boring. Is it because they haven’t experienced anything life-changing lately, or is it all driven by the need to boost sales? The only standout show this season, in my opinion, was YSL. They offered consumers a product in the most authentic way—unforced, perfectly embodying the brand's essence with its primal proportions and exquisite tailoring.

I miss the days when models could walk down the runway smoking, delivering a clear story without needing Sherlock-level deduction skills. We, the audience, are not in your heads. Show us passion, fire, and the chaos within you.

As an artist myself, I believe that critique is essential for growth, but it seems to have vanished in 2024. People are afraid to speak out, fearing backlash from brands or being seen as insensitive. But the industry needs a wake-up call. Honest, unfiltered criticism is what will drive change.

Just a morning rant—thank you for reading. Much love to you all.
